I recently purchased the Cobra XRS 9545 and tested it out on my trip from Birmingham to New Orleans. I was not pleased with the performance of this unit at all. The radar detector would not go off until you were right up on the cop and even then would only show one bar as the strength and sometimes wouldn’t even make a sound at all. Also, the laser detector on my unit did not function at all (I know a police officer and used his lidar gun to verify). I used this Cobra for 3 weeks around Birmingham as well, and was plagued by false alerts constantly. If you are thinking about buying this radar I would recommend saving your money and buying a halfway decent radar detector. I have returned the Cobra and just order a Beltronics V995 Vector Radar and Laser Detector (Black/Silver), after doing some research this time around. Hopefully the V995 will perform better.

Terrible product, have had it for two weeks and have not been warned of a cop ONCE. This ONLY picks up ezpass signals and camera’s on top of traffic lights. It might really be the worst product I have ever bought. This morning alone I saw it completely ignore two posted state troopers ( i live in nj). Just dont buy it, whatever you do just please keep looking for a better one.

Have purchased 3 voice alert Cobras. Two have died after about 2-3 years due to speaker failure. The third is still working but I will not purchase a Cobra again. After the first failure I contacted Cobra and they gave me a coupon for $50 toward a new one but after the 2nd detector speaker died Cobra said “too bad”. Otherwise I have been pleased with the operation.

I’m not going to lie. Like everyone else on the road I speed, not that much, but enough to get me in some trouble. I’ve had this thing for less than a month and I kid you not when I say that it has saved me at least 2 dozen times. It is very reliable and I really enjoy the voice alerts as well as the beeping. I comes loaded with so many features that this product is definitely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made for my car. Another recommendation, that I did, is to hardwire it into the fuse box so the annoying cord is out of your way and it turns on right when your car does.
