The setup was a little more difficult than it should have been. Be sure to read the setup carefully. Some of the yellow toner straps did Setup:
not pull off easily and one of them broke requiring the use of pliers to remove the rest of the strap. A little cyan toner spilled in the printer and I had to vacuum it out. The side door to the toner wouldn’t close but it turned out to be my problem where I didn’t lock one of the toner cartridges in place correctly. Once I corrected the problem it closed and locked in place with ease.
Otherwise you plug in the power cord (included) and the ethernet (not included) or USB cable (not included), wait for the printer to do its setup and away you go. I have my printer hooked up wirelessly using an Apple Express adapter via the USB port.
Mac Support:
Go to the dell website to download the Mac driver.

The print quality from my MacBook Pro using Adobe Lightroom 2 was excellent. Much better than expected. I am going to order more toner because I expect to make a lot of prints.
Toner:
The toner cartridges are really small compared to full sized color printers like the HPs we use at work, but the printer itself is large but the plastic case and paper tray seem a little flimsy. It seems a lot of the lower end printers are going this route. Check the toner cost online at amazon.com. They replacements cost for compatible cartridges is very very reasonable. I will be buy some.
I haven’t tried different paper sizes yet or the manual feed but am thrilled with the Mac support and quality of the output!

This printer is a top quality printer for the price, my first. It is fast, quiet and well constructed as with other Dell products. Print quality is superb, comparable to my Canon iP6000D Ink Jet Printer. Very easy to set up and I recommend using a Belkin USB2 10 ft. Hi-Speed Cable that I ordered on Amazon.com. Very satisfied.

One thing not mentioned anywhere is that after 20,000 pages the print head device (PHD) will need replaced. The PHD is a $180 part that can be very difficult to find. This is marketed as a good printer for a small office, but it’s just consumer grade junk. Most consumers will never hit 20,000 pages and notice the expensive parts replacements.
Instead of fixing mine I will be throwing it away and buying a Xerox Phaser.
