I have taken this printer through it’s paces from set up to several modes of printing.

    Things I really Like:

Ease of Clearing a Paper Jam-This should extend the printer life in itself.

    Simple Two Sided Printing feature.

Uses generic 4 x 6 photo paper-My old HP had to have HP Paper or it would not feed.

Fax program is simple and nice templates.

Very cool how it prints on CD/DVD’s (easy, easy)

Photographic prints are excellent and the software is simple, powerful and intuitive.

Fast copier and multi-page feed for copy/fax is very nice.

    Ink is reasonably priced

Super fast scanner-wow-on 95 DPI color it will do a 8×11 in about 10 seconds.

Wireless hook up worked like a champ. All my network machines just found it.

If it doesn’t break this could be the best printer I have ever owned. I have an Epson tractor printer that is 15 years old and still just keeps churning out the invoices. I hope to get 1/3 the life out of this 810.

For my home/office needs this is a great unit. I have a color Laserjet for ordinary higher volume printing. This gives me high quality scanning, fax, excellent photo printing and copy capability. Also it works very well on my network (wired in my case but the wireless would be useful for some). Other models would be more optimum and less expensive if it were mainly for ordinary printing.

The only minor issue is Windows 7 (64 bit) and Acrobat 9 related. I can not scan into Acrobat with it. I can scan to a PDF file and then open that with Acrobat. This is a new issue that came up with Windows 7 and Acrobat 9. I am not sure which is the culprit – or both maybe.

HOWEVER: DON’T BUY IT FROM STAPLES. THEY ARE SELLING IT FOR $100 MORE THAN EPSON, AMAZON OR MANY OTHER PLACES. STAPLES WON’T HONOR THE STREET PRICE FOR THIS. I THINK EPSON SHOULD PULL THEIR DEALERSHIP. SO I donated $100 to the welfare of Staples stockholders and executives. I wonder if I can claim it as a tax deduction for charity.
